The Arvin Police Department announced Thursday night they arrested a man wanted in connection to the murder of 22-year-old Fabian Zuniga.
Officials said Francisco Banos, 24, was arrested for the murder.
Police say Banos was located by members of the Kern County Sheriff's Office Gang Suppression section Investigations and Street Enforcement Teams, who determined he was staying at a hotel in Castaic.
he Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Special Enforcement Bureau assisted Arvin PD officers with executing a search warrant at the hotel in Castaic. They began their operation around 6:00 a.m. Thursday and concluded around 1:00 p.m. when Banos eventually exited the hotel room after a flash bang was deployed.
Banos was taken into custody for murder, assault with a firearm, and a felon in possession of a firearm,
Police believe Banos is responsible for the murder of Zuniga on April 15, 2018. Zuniga was found in the 700 block of Monroe Street near Franklin Street suffering from a gunshot wound. Zuniga was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
On April 24th, Arvin Police served a search warrant at 722 Walnut Dr. in Arvin in connection to a murder that happened on April 15th, according to Arvin Police. Police were searching for Francisco Jesus Banos who was identified as a person of interest in the murder of Zuniga.
When officers finished executing their search they located a loaded .22 long rifle at the location.
A different man, 30-year-old Jose Banos, was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm and was transported to Kern County Central Receiving Facility.
CHP and LA County Sheriff's Santa Clarita Valley Station assisted with road closures during the operation in Castaic.
