BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Assemblyman Vince Fong issued the following statement to the news that the California Department of Motor Vehicles mishandled more than 2 million Real ID's.
The DMV waited an entire month to notify Californians that they were not in compliance with Federal Government, according to Fong.
“California’s noncompliance with Federal Real ID is further evidence of the need for new leadership not only at the DMV but at the Department of Technology,” Fong said. “It is unacceptable how long the department knew about noncompliance and failed to notice Californians. And now the REAL ID licenses of residents in Kern County and throughout the state are in limbo because of the state’s incompetence.”
