BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Two bills were authored by Assemblymember Rudy Salas this week to exempt disabled veterans from paying sales and use tax on adaptive automotive equipment and provide personal income tax relief for active duty service members and veterans.
“Veterans and active duty servicemembers sacrifice their lives to defend our country,” said Assemblymember Salas. “Our laws should demonstrate our commitment to these heroes and continue to support them throughout their service and after they've come home. AB 1257 will help disabled veterans who have to modify their vehicles because of injuries sustained during service. AB 1258 will honor veterans and servicemembers by counting their time served protecting our nation with a state personal income tax exemption.”
