Three people were killed after a big rig collided with an SUV on Highway 99 near Famoso Road on Monday morning, Robert Rodriguez, spokesman for California Highway Patrol said.
According to Rodriguez, the vehicles collided just before 6:20 a.m.
The Kern County Corner's office released the names of those who died in the early-morning crash as:
- Zenaida Quintero-Reyes 44
- Maria Elizabeth Caballero 43
- Sylvia Carrillo-Ramirez 53
The CHP says traffic was backing up on both northbound and southbound Highway 99 in the area.
