MCFARLAND, Calif. (KERO) — One person is dead following a traffic collision in McFarland shortly before 9:30 p.m. Sunday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol incident website, a semi-truck and a Chevy Silverado truck were involved in the collision, which occurred near Famoso Porterville Highway and Driver Road.

For an unknown reason, the driver of the Chevrolet failed to stop at the posted stop sign and struck the rear of a 2013 Freightliner truck, which was also traveling southbound on Driver Road and had just entered the intersection from the stop sign.

The driver of the Chevrolet was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained fatal injuries.

Two people were inside the semi-truck and sustained minor injuries, according to CHP.
