UPDATE: Man killed after vehicle collides into trees in Shafter identified

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — (UPDATE 12/8): The Kern County Coroner’s office has identified William Alfonso Argueta, 31, of Shafter as the man killed in a crash Sunday.

According to Kern County Sheriff's Office, Argueta died after crashing his 2008 Honda into several trees in an orchard on Sunday.


At least one person is dead after a vehicle collided into a tree in Shafter Sunday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol traffic page, the incident happened near Merced and Poplar avenues shortly after 2 p.m.

The traffic page states that the vehicle's hazard lights were on, but does not say whether any other vehicle was involved.

It is unclear what caused the collision.

CHP units continue to investigate.
