Coroner identifies utility truck driver killed in crash on Stockdale Highway, Superior Road

UPDATE:
The Kern County coroner has identified 22-year-old Johnny Edwin Nunez Larumbe as the utility vehicle driver that collided with a semi-truck at the above location. Officials said Larumbe died at the scene.

A postmortem examination was performed. The cause of death is Multiple Blunt Force Trauma. The manner of death is Accident.

At least one person is dead following a crash on Stockdale Highway on Wednesday morning.

The CHP reported that a big-rig and utility truck collided near Superior Road around 8 a.m.

Officers at the scene told 23ABC the semi-truck was headed Westbound on Stockdale Highway while the white utility truck was going eastbound. According to officials, for an unknown reason the truck swerved into the opposite lane causing it to hit the big-rig head on.

Authorities said the driver of the utility truck was killed in the crash and a passenger was taken to a nearby hospital with major injuries.

It's not known if anyone else was injured in the collision.
