BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Five juveniles and two adults were detained following an attempted car jacking that Bakersfield Police say took place in Central Bakersfield on December 12, at 9 p.m.
According to police, a person flagged down police in the 3600 block of Q street to report a attempted carjacking. The person told police that a man brandished a firearm and demanded her vehicle.
The woman says she was able to run from the scene and contact police.
Police located and detained five juveniles and two adult males in connection to the attempted car jacking.
Two of the juveniles, aged 13 and 17, were in possession of firearms. An investigation determined that the same 17 year old was responsible for the attempted carjacking.
Both were booked into the Kern County Juvenile Detention Facility for weapons possession and gang charges. The 17 year old was also charged with attempted carjacking.
The five other individuals were released following the investigation.
