BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — According to a letter obtained by 23ABC, Kyle J. Humphrey is representing Monsignor Craig Harrison of St. Francis Church in Bakersfield, who was placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation of sexual misconduct with a minor.

In the letter sent to the Fresno Diocese, Humphrey requests that the Diocese provides him with the complaint, identity of the complainant, allegations and other pertinent information.

According to the Catholic Diocese of Fresno, which oversees Bakersfield Catholic churches, an allegation of sexual misconduct was reported to diocesan personnel on Friday, April 12, by a man who was a minor at the time of the alleged abuse.

On Monday, April 15, diocesan personnel reported the allegation in person to the Firebaugh Police Department. Later that day, the officer who initially received the report was able to contact and interview the alleged victim.

According to the Firebaugh Police Department, the alleged victim reported inappropriate touching. The Firebaugh Police Department says the incident is still under investigation.

Within the letter, Humphrey states that the "damage done to Monsignor's good name is profound."
