Attorneys for Joseph Lopeteguy will hold a joint press conference Monday afternoon to discuss the civil suit filed against the Kern High School District. 

Lopeteguy, who served as police chief for the school district, has alleged that administrators had him run illegal background checks on students, job applicants and others.

A civil suit alleges that he was pressured into running the illegal background checks and when he didn't, the district retaliated by placing him on administrative leave. 

Lopeteguy is being represented by Young & Nichols; Swanson O'Dell; and Carpenter, Zuckerman & Rowley. Tom Sheets with Young & Nichols says his firm was first contacted by Lopeteguy. 

The three firms will gather for a press conference at 1 p.m. Monday at the offices of Young & Nichols.
