It goes without saying, this election has been filled with a range of emotions.

Because of this, 23ABC spoke with the Kern County Sheriff's Office and Bakersfield Police Department regarding their security efforts in polling places.

The sheriff's office said they do have an "operational plan in place to address any issues that may come up." For obvious reasons the sheriff's office did not go into details regarding their operational or tactical plans.

As for the BPD, officials say they have "no concerns and have no plans to increase our compliment of officers". They say they have not heard of any planned demonstrations possibly causing problems.

Polling places in California will close tonight at 8.
