BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The Bakersfield City Council on Wednesday night approved raises for the Bakersfield fire and police departments.

The new agreement gives each a 2.5% wage increase.

Police officers will also get a one-time bonus of $5,000.

There is another bonus that is meant to help with retention. That payment could be anywhere between $3,000 to $20,000.
