BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield City Council voted unanimously to delay going forward with a letter of intent to purchase the property located at 1900 East Brundage Avenue that would be transformed into a new 450-bed homeless shelter.

Council members heard out community members as they expressed concerns surrounding neighborhood safety and the size of the facility.

The motion was passed to table the vote until January 22, 2020 and council asked city staff to perform a comprehensive budget analysis and reach out to the community for feedback.
