Bakersfield City School District highlights free and reduced lunch program

Posted
and last updated

Students in the Bakersfield City School District have the opportunity to apply for free and reduced breakfast and lunch meals.

“To qualify for the meals you have to fall within the economic categories that are established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture,” Director of Nutrition Services Brenda Robinson said.

Every year students are required to re-apply for free and reduced meals unless they get a letter telling them otherwise.

“We want all of our children to be fed daily,” Robinson said. “If they don’t eat, they can’t learn.”

Applications are available at any school site.

For more information on the free and reduced meal guidelines, see the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Income Eligibility Guidelines.
