BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — BCSD was recently named “District of Distinction” by District Administration magazine.

The Bakersfield City School District, along with our Family and Community Engagement (FACE) team, was recognized as a “District of Distinction” by District Administration magazine, a highly respected educational magazine.

BCSD won top honors in the Community & Family Engagement/Business Partnerships category for the positive impact our FACE team and programs have had on student achievement.

The District prioritizes parent involvement, beginning an initiative to include parents and guardians in all aspects of the educational process during the 2014-15 school year.

As a result, chronic absenteeism has dropped from 15.85% to 12.5% in four years, a major accomplishment.
