BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Bakersfield City School District has been awarded with the Best Communities for Music Education from The NAMM Foundation for its commitment to music education.

The Best Communities for Music Education is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement to provide access to music access and education to all students. BCSD provides all interested children with a musical instrument. Student participation in the music program is at an all-time high and continues to grow.

“I am very proud of our educators. The Bakersfield City School District is the only district in Kern County to earn the award this year,” said Michael Stone, Coordinator, Visual and Performing Arts Department.

This award recognizes that BCSD is leading the way with learning opportunities as outlined in the Every Student Succeeds Act.
