BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Here's your chance to become a firefighter. Monday Bakersfield College is hosting a Firefighter Career Workshop at their Downtown Bakersfield campus.

The goal of the workshop is to introduce the community who's interested in becoming a firefighter what skills, certifications and tests are needed to become a firefighter. Both Bakersfield Fire Department and Kern County Fire Department have partnerships with Bakersfield College to help them train new firefighters and continue the training of current firefighters.

Both BFD and KCFD require their firefighters to gain their Firefighter 1 certificate to become a local firefighter. This workshop will help a would-be applicant start the process to gain their Firefighter 1 certificate.

The Firefighter Career Workshop will be Monday October 7th from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 2100 Chester Avenue, Room 124. The workshop is one of a series of events that Bakersfield College's Career and Technical Education offers to spread awareness about jobs available in Kern County.
