Bakersfield Fire Department asks residents to have a "safe and sane" Fourth of July

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Fire Department is reminding residents when you can light fireworks as well as providing some safety tips.

The BFD said "safe and sane" fireworks can be used within city limits until midnight Friday. Saturday they can be used from 9 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

BFD is also reminding people of safety tips as well, saying always have an adult present; always ignite outdoors away from people, structures, vehicles, or dry grass; never alter or disassemble fireworks; never allow small children to ignite or handle fireworks, and keep animals away from fireworks.
