BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — At 2:09 p.m. the Bakersfield Fire Department were able to battle back a fire involving a home on Kentucky Street Thursday morning.
According to reports, the two-alarm fire involved one home and two outbuildings.
When they arrived they found a detached garage on fire near the rear of the property on Lake St. The garage had been completely engulfed by fire and the fire then spread to a residence on an adjacent lot of Kentucky St.
No one was inside at the time.
The original detached garage and residence at the rear of the Kentucky St. property were destroyed. Two additional structures sustained moderate fire damage and one structure sustained minor fire damage.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by members of the Kern County Fire Department Arson Unit.
There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters reported.
Four residents were displaced and are receiving assistance from Red Cross and City Serve.
