Early Thursday morning, the Bakersfield Fire Department responded to a fire at the Budget Inn on South Union Avenue. Crews from BFD and the Kern County Fire Department were able to contain the fire to three of the hotel's 12 units.

There were no injuries to guests or employees, but one firefighter did suffer minor injuries. Two dogs were rescued from the hotel.

The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time and an investigation continues. The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the fire.
