The Bakersfield Fire Department was dispatched to reports of a fire at a two-story, 2-unit apartment in central Bakersfield just after 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
Fire officials said the fire seems to have originated in the attic of one of the units. When they arrived flames were showing through the roof of that unit. It was unoccupied, but the second unit which is attached had four people inside when the fire broke out, they had to be evacuated.
Officials said this is the second fire at that apartment unit Saturday morning. They said around 2 a.m. they were dispatched to the same apartment for a mattress fire inside the same unit.
Officials said both fires seemed to be intentionally set, but arson investigators are still trying to confirm whether or not that is what happened.
No one was injured in the fire.
