BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Fire Department responded to a reported two-story apartment complex fire on Wednesday, January 2 at 9:13 a.m. in Southwest Bakersfield.
BFD units reported heavy smoke and flames issuing from two apartment units upon arrival. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the two initial units, however, two additional apartment units were damaged by smoke.
All occupants of the residences evacuated prior to the arrival of the fire department. Three occupants suffered minor smoke inhalation and were transported for further medical evaluation.
The fire department is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
