Bakersfield Fire investigating vacant structure fire in Central Bakersfield

Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 2006 hours (8:06 p.m. PST) a second alarm from the Bakersfield Fire Department
responded to a reported single-story, commercial structure fire at 207 E. California Avenue including 4 Engines, 2
Trucks, 2 Battalion Commanders, 1 Arson Unit, 1 Information Officer, 1 Safety Officer, and assisting agencies.
 
First arriving BFD Units reported a “working fire” in a ‘vacant’ single-story commercial structure with flames showing through the roof. BFD Engine Company Firefighters deployed multiple hoselines to the interior of the structure while additional BFD Firefighters established a hydrant-based water supply. BFD Truck Company Firefighters provided forcible entry and assisted interior crews with a search of the structure and overhaul operations.
 
BFD Arson Investigators are determining the cause of the fire. No civilian or Firefighter injuries were reported.
