Monday, March 6, 2017 at 1806 hours (6:06 p.m. PST) a reinforced rescue response from the Bakersfield Fire Department responded to a reported male victim over-the-edge of the Panorama bluffs just east of River Boulevard.
First arriving BFD Firefighters reported two (2) victims approximately 40 feet down the Panorama bluffs, one (1) with minor injuries and the other was uninjured. The injured victim was raised from his mid-slope position utilizing a combination of rope rescue systems and a litter basket.
Once raised to safety, the patient’s condition was reassessed by BFD Firefighters and the patient was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
The remaining victim who was uninjured was assisted to a safe location by BFD crews. One (1) civilian injury and no Firefighter injuries were reported.
