BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Tuesday, a local foundation hosted a food giveaway to help feed struggling families in the community.

Wendale Davis Foundation partnered with Pacific Health and Education and A Right Place For Seniors. The event was so popular they had to start letting people through the line before the start time.

It was supposed to start at 3 p.m. but people started lining up hours before.

Pacific Health and Education and A Right Place For Seniors funded the event and Wesley Davis, the founder of the foundation says that he is happy with how the event went.

"iIt has been a fantastic day. I'm just elated that we were able to feed so many people that are in need during this COVID period," said Davis. "We fed families. This wasn't a homeless initiative this was designed to help struggling families that are not doing so well and we achieved that today."

They will be hosting another food distribution on Tuesday, February 23 at their building located at 5300 California Avenue.
