BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The unemployment rate in Kern County is more than 10 percent. Bakersfield’s unemployment rate is only slightly better, coming in at about 9 percent.
But, the Kern County Department of Human Services hopes to change that by bringing the JobFest series to the Rabobank Convention Center this morning.
If you’re looking for work, today is your lucky day. Doors open at 9 am.
Over 130 employers have signed up to be a part of today’s JobFest, offering thousands of open positions.
Last year, nearly 2,900 people through the doors seeking employment. All attendees met potential employers face-to-face, most who were looking to hire people on the spot.
Starbucks, Bolthouse Farms, and California Highway Patrol are among the several companies attending this event.
If you’re an early bird and don’t want to wait until 9 am, doors will open at 7 a.m. for the free “Be Your Best at JobFest” training session. Organizers will help you prepare for success in landing that next job. But, you have to arrive before 8 a.m. to be able to attend the training. Or, wait until 9 a.m. for the JobFest to begin.
Job seekers should come to JobFest dressed for success with at least 20 copies of their resume or Master Application.
The event is free to attend and open to the public.
