BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A Bakersfield man has taken a plea deal after engaging in sexual acts with a 14-year-old boy he met on the dating app, Grindr in 2017.
According to a district attorney, 47-year-old Gerardo Orbe-Lucas pleaded no contest to lewd, lascivious act with a child under 14 years old and communicating with a minor with the intent to commit lewd, lascivious acts.
Court documents obtained by 23ABC show the charges are from an incident that happened back in April 2017. The parents of the victim allegedly called Bakersfield Police out to their home after discovering Orbe-Lucas' truck in their driveway when they arrived. Initially the underage boy told his parents that he had let Orbe-Lucas in the house after exchanging messages on Facebook.
Investigators discovered further that the two met on the dating app, Grindr and Orbe-Lucas claimed he thought the boy was 21-years-old.
Orbe Lucas was sentenced to 10 years in prison with 828 days for time served.
