Bakersfield Mayor Harvey Hall reached out to Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer following the mass shooting at a nightclub there over the weekend.

In the letter, Hall calls the shooting "simply heartbreaking" and says Orlando is in the thoughts and prayers of citizens across Bakersfield.

"This is an unspeakable evil that has made its way to Orlando, and I know that the spirit of your city is suffering," Hall wrote in the letter.

"Please know that Americans across this land stand with and behind the people of Orlando", Harvey said. "As we heal, we are with you."
