Bakersfield Memorial Hospital has announced a new program called Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) for high-risk cardiac patients.

The program is the first of its kind in the Southern San Joaquin Valley.

The hospital is one of less than 500 in the U.S. certified to perform the procedure.
