Bakersfield organizations offering help to local gang members, following massive gang sweep

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Following the gang-sweep of several 'Country Boy Crips' members Tuesday, officials are urging local gang members to seek help.

Several organizations in Bakersfield are offering their services to help these gang members change their lifestyles.

Stay Focused Ministries, a Bakersfield non-profit organization has helped hundreds of gang members, according to Manuel Carrizalez, a former gang member himself.

Carrizalez told 23ABC News that gang members can call 661-322-HOPE for assistance.

Bakersfield Police Department Sergeant Nathan McCauley said gang members can also seek assistance from the Bakersfield Safe Street partnership.

The partnership is a culmination of law enforcement, faith based organizations and various community leaders working together to assist gang members.

The Safe Street Program is located at 1225 California Avenue in Bakersfield.

Another organization pursuiting the same endeavor is the Wendale Davis Foundation located at 730, Chester Avenue.
