Here's your chance to join the Bakersfield Police force. The Bakersfield Police Department is currently looking for applicants to join their Citizen Volunteer Unit.

Bakersfield Police officers said the duties of the Citizen Volunteer Unit involve patrolling downtown and parks in an "observe and report" manner and greeting the public during neighborhood watch meetings, Coffee with a Cop and Special Olympics.

BPD asks volunteers to volunteer at least eight hours per month, plus attend a mandatory two-hour meeting on the fourth Monday of the month.

To apply to join Bakersfield Police Department's Citizen Volunteer Unit print and file out an application and return it to Bakersfield Police's office at 1601 Truxtun Ave, Bakersfield, CA 93301.
