BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department is now accepting applications for their summer Junior Police Academy sessions.
The Junior Police Academy is a four week summer program that gives children an idea of what goes into becoming a police officer.
For children ages 11 through 13, Junior Police Academy sessions will run from June 10 through July 3 from 7:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. The sessions will be held at:
- Bakersfield Police Activities League (301 East 4th Street) in Central Bakersfield
- Bridge Church (12225 Stockdale Highway) in Southwest Bakersfield
- Friendship House (2424 Cottonwood Road) in Southwest Bakersfield
For children ages 14 through 17, Junior Police Academy sessions will run from July 15 through August 7 from 7:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. The sessions will be held at:
- Bakersfield Police Activities League (301 East 4th Street) in Central Bakersfield
- Bridge Church (12225 Stockdale Highway) in Southwest Bakersfield
BPD says each recruit will be responsible for their lunch and transportation to and from the Academy,
Applications for the Academy can be found at the bottom of this article or online. BPD says completed applications should be turned in to the Bakersfield Police Activities League, located at 301 E. 4th Street in Central Bakersfield. The deadline to turn in completed applications is May 3, 2019.
