Around 7:00 p.m. Saturday Bakersfield Police officers conducted a traffic stop on South Union Avenue near E. Terrace Way.
Officers said a passenger in the vehicle, later identified as Andwele Shabazz, 26, ran from the vehicle and threw a loaded firearm on the ground.
Police recovered the firearm and Shabazz was arrested for firearm violations and resisting arrest.
