Bakersfield Police arrest man after he reportedly approached a 15-year-old girl on her way home and kissed her cheek

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Bakersfield Police Department arrested a 37-year-old man for annoying a child after officials said he grabbed her and kissed her on the cheek Thursday morning.

Officials said on Thursday around 11 a.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Texas Street and Liggett St. regarding a report of a suspect being detained, who was reportedly annoying or molesting a child.

Upon arrival, officers saw Rolando Arrellano Castillo being detained by several people.

Officials said their investigation showed that Castillo approached a 15-year-old girl as she was walking home on Union Avenue near California Ave. around 10:45 a.m.

Castillo grabbed the juvenile, kissed her on the cheek, and then directed her to kiss him on the cheek, according to police.

Police said he told the girl he was lonely and wrote his phone number on her hand.

The girl and Castillo separated and the girl went home and told her family what happened. Her family suggested she call the suspect and set up a meeting.

The girl called Castillo and he agreed to meet her in the area of Union Avenue and Liggett St. When Castillo arrived, he was detained by adult family members of the girl who then contacted BPD.

Officials said Castillo tried to take off and the adult family members used pepper spray and a stun gun to detain him until police arrived.

Castillo was arrested for annoying or molesting a juvenile and battery.
