The Bakersfield Police Department shared a post on Facebook commending one of their officers on his actions in response to a robbery.

The commendation read that on August 11, Officer Anthony Kidwell responded to the report of a robbery at the Amtrak Station located at 600 Truxtun Avenue.

During the investigation, Kidwell learned that the victim, who had lost all of his money and cellphone during the incident was left stranded with no place to spend the night and was not a Bakersfield resident, but instead a victim traveling through the area.

After completing the investigation, Officer Kidwell transported the victim to a nearby store and purchased food for the night before transporting him to a hotel and at his own expense, rented a room to ensure that the man would have shelter for the night.

Officer Kidwell continued to demonstrate compassion by giving the victim $60 of his own money for the man to purchase a train ticket home.

The Department has commended him for his dedication to duty and the citizens of Bakersfield.
