BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened earlier this month.

On September 9th police say a 59-year-old man was found injured in the 600 block of California Avenue at around 8 a.m. The victim was transported to Kern Medical where he died two days later on September 11, 2019. The coroner says the cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma. The investigation revealed he had been struck by a suspect with a large tree branch.

Bakersfield Police arrested 35-year-old Jesus Reyes in connection to the death. They say Reyes will be charged with the murder of the victim.
