Bakersfield Police Department is investigating a shooting that left 1 dead, 1 injured in SW Bkrsfld

The victim of a homicide early Sunday morning has been identified by the Kern Co. Coroner's Office.

Carlton Mosley, 22, of Bakersfield was shot in a strip mall parking lot near California Ave & Mohawk (5400 block of California Avenue). He died at the scene.

Police said they responded to reports of shots fired in the area around 3:15 a.m.

While on scene officers were advised a second adult male suffering from gunshot wounds arrived at a local hospital by private means. The second victim suffered injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The investigation is in the early stages; however, it was determined both victims were shot during the same incident.

Police initially said two people were injured, however they later said one had died at the scene.
