On October 15, 2016, between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. representatives from the Bakersfield Police Department will be at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park to distribute auto theft deterrent devices.

They will be located at 901 East California Avenue and will distribute 200 devices, called "The Club", to registered owners of the following vehicle makes and models:
  • 1990 through 2000 Honda Accord, Honda Civic, and Acura Integra automobiles
  • 2000 through 2008 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks

Additionally, on October 22, 2016, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. the Bakersfield Police Department will conduct a second gifting event in the parking lot of the Target, located at 11000 Stockdale Highway and will distribute any remaining devices.

To obtain “The Club” during these events, any registered owner of the above listed vehicles (by make, model, and year sets) must bring that vehicle to the event, and present a current and valid registration listing an address within Bakersfield, California, along with their California driver’s license or identification card to participating officers/detectives.

As these devices are provided to registered owners, officers will collect information for later evaluation and to track inventory dispersal.

A limited number of “The Club” devices will be available for gifting and made available on other dates – while supplies last.
