A Bakersfield Police Department detective was involved in a crash in downtown Bakersfield on Wednesday.

The detective was driving a silver, unmarked BPD car southbound on F Street and was hit by a car heading westbound on 17th Street. The other car reportedly ran a red light.

The detective is part of the burglary unit and was sent to the hospital with minor injuries. The female driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
