BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating two reports of gunshots being fired during the final hours of Christmas Day.

Police responded at 11:27 p.m. Tuesday to a ShotSpotter activation in the 1200 block of Texas Street.

Officers arrived but didn’t find any victims of a shooting, according to BPD. However, they did locate several spent shell casings.

About 40 minutes later, officers were dispatched to gunshots being fired a little over a mile away in the 1100 block of East Belle Terrace.

Officers located several spent shell casings similar to the ones located on Texas Street, authorities said.

Witnesses at the second scene described the shooter as a Hispanic female who was wearing a bandana over her face, police said.

The two incidents are believed to be related.
