UPDATE (10/14): One man has been arrested for murder after Bakersfield Police officers found a body at the Town and Country Motel in east Bakersfield on Sunday.

Police say they originally responded to the motel just before 11 a.m. for a peace disturbance; when they got on scene, they found a dead adult woman. 

57-year-old Eldrick Richmond was arrested for murder after the BPD investigation revealed that he was allegedly responsible for the victim's death.

The victim's identity has not been released and the investigation is ongoing.

ORIGINAL: The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating an assault with a deadly weapon in central Bakersfield.

BPD is on scene at Union Ave. and Grove Ave. for an incident that happened earlier this morning. It's unclear when exactly it happened. 

Police said major injuries were reported.
