The Bakersfield Police Department was investigating a homicide in Central Bakersfield Wednesday morning. 

They were called out just before 4:45 a.m. to 19th and V Streets. When officers arrived they found a man in his 30s with multiple stab wounds to his chest. He died at the scene. 

Roads surrounding that intersection were blocked off but have since reopened. The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Sergio Mendoza.
