The Kern County Coroner's Office has identified 24-year-old Zachariah Jade Watson as the body found near Terrace Way.

Officials said Watson was found dead. The corner said a postmortem examination was performed but the cause and manner of death are pending.

Officials say they no longer believe a man in South Bakersfield was killed by a shooting.

The Bakersfield Police Department initially reported on man was fatally shot near Terrace Way and 'P' Street Saturday evening, but now say they are investigating the incident as a suspicious death.

"Officers arrived on scene and located the descendant who upon initial assessment believed to be a victim of a shooting," a BPD press release read.

No suspect information is available at the moment.
