Bakersfield Police responding to a major injury shooting in east Bakersfield

UPDATE (Oct. 18 5:37 p.m.) Bakersfield Police said a man was found outside a home in east Bakersfield suffering from multiple gunshot wounds Wednesday afternoon.

BPD said they received a call around 4:30 p.m. of a shooting near the 800 block on Monterey Street. When officers arrived, an adult male was found in an alley outside of a home suffering from moderate to major gunshot injuries. 

Officers did not give any information on where he was shot, but said he was conscious when he was taken to a nearby hospital.

The man's current status is unknown.

Police said there is no current information if the shooting was gang related or a domestic issue. 

BPD said the victim's condition - if it downgrades or worsen - will determine how long they are on scene at Monterey near Beale.

Officials said no suspect has been arrested. Anyone with information is asked to call Bakersfield Police at 661-327-7211.
