Coroner identifies man killed in NW Bakersfield crash Sunday

UPDATE (April 3, 3:16p.m.): The Kern County Coroner's Office has identified the person who died as Timothy Dale Riblett, 55.


One person is dead after a crash in northwest Bakersfield.

It happened at Noriega Rd. and Verdugo Ln. just after 12:30 p.m. Officers arrived to find a man suffering from major injuries in a white Ford Expedition. The man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, and a passenger in the car suffered moderate injuries.

The other car involved was a grey Dodge Ram truck; police say the driver of the Ram truck was traveling westbound on Noriega when they failed to stop for a red traffic light and hit the Expedition. The driver of the Dodge truck was not injured.

Police say the driver of the Dodge truck was determined not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Traffic is being shut down in the area, use an alternate route.
