BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Two men were arrested following a traffic stop, according to Bakersfield Police Department.

Officials said on Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. officers stopped a car in the area of 1600 Terrace Way. In the car was 25-year-old Deshon Forbes and 26-year-old Tremaine Jones. Cops searched the car after finding out that Forbes was on active parole from the California Department of Corrections.

During the search, officers said they found a loaded revolver in the backseat passenger area where Jones had been sitting. Jones attempted to run away but was arrested after a brief pursuit. Jones is a convicted felon and is not allowed to be in possession of firearms, according to officials. Police also found methamphetamine on Jones.

Jones was booked into the Kern County jail for several felony firearms related charges, narcotics possession charges and resisting arrest.
