Bakersfield student selected as finalist for statewide video contest

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A local student has made it to the top five as a finalist for a statewide video contest.

Erubiel Monterrosa of Bakersfield is one of the final five entries in the "2019 Districts Makes The Difference" video contest.

High school and college students were challenged to create a 60 to 90 second video showing the importance of special districts by highlighting how they have enhanced the lives of residents by providing essential services such as water, energy, fire protection and more.

Erubiel used local scenery to creatively show the important role that special districts have in our communities.

You can vote here for Erubiel until November 30. First prize will be awarded $2000, Second will be awarded $1000, and Third will be awarded $500.
