Today, Wednesday November 1, 2017 is the 63rd annual Bakersfield teen city government day and students involved will spend their day shadowing the city council and learning all about what is it they do.
The 68 students will start their day with an honors breakfast at 7 a.m. at the Liberty High School cafeteria, which is being hosted by Optimist Clubs of Greater Bakersfield.
The students will team up with department and division heads at City Council and learn the services the City of Bakersfield offers. Employees will also have the opportunity to hear about what students feel are important needs in the community.
In the evening, 14 students will get to go back to City Council and have a chance to join in on a City Council meeting.
