BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department is attempting to arrest a shooting suspect, who they believe has barricaded himself inside an apartment in Southwest Bakersfield.

According to BPD, the incident started when officers responded to reports of a shooting at about 7:23 p.m. near 4701 Beachwood Street.

When units arrived they found evidence that a shooting took place, but no one was injured.

The man, who police believe is the shooting suspect, fled the scene while officers were present and barricaded himself inside an apartment.

A BPD SWAT is now on scene to assist.
