BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Parents will be able to trade in their old car seat for a coupon to purchase a new car seat at three participating Bakersfield Target stores later this month.

Starting April 22, parents will have the chance to bring their old car seat to participating Target locations and receive a 20% off coupon to purchase a new car seat. Parents can also apply the coupon towards a new car seat base, travel system, stroller or select baby home gear, such as playards, high chairs, swings, rockers and bouncers.

Target says they will accept and recycle all types of car seats, including infant seats, convertible seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats and car seats that are expired or damaged. Materials from the old car seats will then be recycled by Target’s partner, Waste Management.

The car seat trade-in event starts on Monday, April 22 and runs through Saturday, May 4. Participating Bakersfield locations include:
